ENOUGH:Call for action to end the violence in Gaza ... Flash presentation of the Palestine Timeline
The increased violence in the Gaza strip this week has resulted over 40 people killed. In recent weeks the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) office has been contacted by members who feel despair at the crisis, and wonder how they can demonstrate their solidarity when the Palestinians are fighting between themselves.
As part of our campaign we must give the message that the root causes of the internal violence are: years of violent occupation, the international communitys policy of isolating the democratically elected Palestinian government, and the unprecedented levels of poverty faced by Palestinians today as a result of the occupations devastating impact on the economy and the freezing of international aid.
In addition, Haaretz has reported today that Netanyahu, the Israeli opposition leader, is calling for the government to cut the power and water supply in the Gaza Strip in a controlled manner. This action, as well as being completely inhumane, will be counterproductive and will result in further violence as people become ever more desperate.
We urgently call on supporters to:
***Contact their MPs immediately calling for
1. full recognition of the Palestinian unity government by the British government
2. complete restoration of aid by Britain and the European Union
3. pressure on Israel to end the occupation
