~The Prophet`s, SAW, Last Sermon~


This sermon was delivered on the ninth day of Dhul Hijah, 10 A.H. (632 A.D.) in the valley of Mount Arafat. `The last sermon of the Prophet-peace be upon him- is known as Khutbatul Wada`. It is mentioned in almost all books of Hadith. Following Ahadith in Sahih Al-Bukhari refer to the sermon and quote part of it. See Al-Bukhari, Hadith 1623, 1626, 6361) Sahih of Imam Muslim also refers to this sermon in Hadith number 98. Imam al-Tirmidhi has mentioned this sermon in Hadith nos. 1628, 2046, 2085. Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal has given us the longest and perhaps the most complete version of this sermon in his Masnud, Hadith no. 19774.

This Khutbah of the Prophet-peace be upon him- was long and it contained much guidance and instructions on many issues. The Prophet-peace be upon him- gave this sermon in front of a large gathering of people during Hajj.

Whosoever heard whatever part of the sermon reported it and later some scholars put it together. It is a great khutbah and we should all pay attention to its message and guidance. Following are the basic points mentioned in this khutbah

Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips was born in Jamaica, but grew up in Canada, where he accepted Islam in 1972. He completed a diploma in Arabic, and a B.A. from the College of Islamic Disciplines (Usool Ad-Deen) at the Islamic Univeristy of Madeenah in 1979. At the University of Riyadh, College of Education, he completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology in 1985, and in the department of Islamic Studies at the University of Wales, he completed a Ph.D. in Islamic Theology in 1994.



Since 1994 he has founded and directed the Islamic Information Center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (which is now known as Discover Islam) and the Foreign Literature Department of Dar Al Fatah Islamic Press in Sharjah, UAE. Presently, he is a lecturer of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the American University in Dubai and Ajman University in Ajman, UAE.

http://www.islamic-invitation.comThe Story of Salihʾs She-Camel Allah then says, [فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ] (But the Messenger of Allah said to them) referring to Salih. [نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ] (That is the she-camel of Allah!) meaning, `beware of touching the she-camel of Allah with any harm.ʾ [وَسُقْيَـهَا] (and its drink!) meaning, `do not transgress against her in her drinking, for she has been allocated a day to drink and you have been allocated a day to drink, as is known to you.ʾ Then Allah says, [فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا] (Then they denied him and they killed it.) which means they rejected what he came with. This resulted in them killing the she-camel that Allah had brought out of the rock as a sign for them and a proof against them. [فَدَمْدمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنبِهِمْ] (So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin,) meaning, He became angry with them and He annihilated them. [فَسَوَّاهَا] (Fasawwaha!) meaning, He made the punishment descend upon them all equally. Qatadah said,
