Brother Masood Chowdhury has been Working in Dawah for more than 15 years. He graduated with a first class degree in civil engineering from Imperial College, London. He currently practises as a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Masood Chowdhury has been studying the Islamic sciences for a number of years, with particular emphasis on the Qurʾan, which included a period of two years in Egypt. He is fluent in Arabic and is currently studying for a degree in Shariah in the Arabic medium. In addition to his studies, Masood Chowdhury is a visiting Imam/Khateeb at a number of mosques in the u.k. and also conducts regular Islamic studies classes within the community.He has also delivered many classes including a series of more than 50 lectures explaining the Hadith.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER -

Adnan Rashid is a historian with a speciality in the history of Islamic civilisation, comparative religion and Hadith literature. He has an honours degree in History from the University of London and is currently pursuing further studies. He has also gained ijazaas in Hadith from a number of scholars.

He also takes a keen interest in lslamic numismatics and ancient manuscripts.. He has debated many high profile figures in the field of politics, history and Christian/Islamic theology.

He has defended his views in many prestigious universities including the University of Warsaw (Poland), the American University of Beirut (Lebanon) and The Trinity College Dublin and numerous other universities across the UK and internationally. He has also represented Islam and Muslims on a number of reputable media platforms such as the BBC.

He is presently serving as a khateeb (delivering Friday sermons) in a number of London Mosques. He is presently conducting an extensive Tafseer Course explaining the meaning of the Qurʾan to wider audiences based upon the work of Ibn Katheer. Adnan also specialises in the Seerah (Life of the Prophet).

Adnan believes that Islam is a way of life which promotes modernity (in all of its positive manifestations) and provides realistic solutions for all problems facing mankind.

Adnan Rashid is a senior researcher for iERA and at the Hittin Institute.

Malik in his Muwattaʾ and Muslim in his Sahih relate that Mu`awiya ibn al-Hakam came to the Prophet and told him: ʾʾI am very newly from the Jahiliyya, and now Allah has brought Islam,ʾʾ and he proceeded to ask about various Jahiliyya practices, until at last he said that he had slapped his slave girl, and asked if he should free her, as was obligatory if she was a believer. The Prophet requested that she be brought, and then asked her, ʾʾWhere is Allah?ʾʾ and she said, ʾʾIn the sky (fi al-samaʾ)ʾʾ; whereupon he asked her, ʾʾWho am I?ʾʾ and she said, ʾʾYou are the Messenger of Allahʾʾ; at which he said, ʾʾFree her, for she is a believer.ʾʾ

Is there anything more clearer than that?
If you say: ʾʾbut Allaah doesnt actually mean that He rose over the heavens.ʾʾ, well, let me tell you one thing, who gave you permission to make tafseer of the Quran? No one.
Muhammad saws never said anything about it and he is the most correct in any aspects of Islam, nor did the great scholars whom made tafseer of the Quran say anything about it. So please do not say anything without knowledge.

Now the answer to the question about the Prophetʾs birthday:

we know that the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) were the people who loved the Prophet most. Was it reported that Abu Bakr, who was the closest of people to him and the one who loved him the most, celebrated the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)? Was it reported that ʾUmar, who ruled for twelve years, or ʾUthmaan, did this? Was it reported that ʾAli, his relative and foster son, did this? Was it reported that any of the Sahaabah did this? No, by Allaah! Is it because they were not aware of its importance, or did they not truly love the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)? No one would say such a thing except one who has gone astray and is leading others astray.

Did any of the imaams -- Abu Haneefah, Maalik, al-Shaafiʾi, Ahmad, al-Hasan al-Basri, Ibn Seereen -- do this or command others to do it or say that it was good? By Allaah, no! It was not even mentioned during the first and best three centuries.
If you are saying: ʾʾIt is good, what is wrong with it? its not bidʾah I only do it because I love the Prophet and it takes me closer to him in love!ʾʾ then you must know that every little thing we can do to come closer in love to our beloved Prophet he would have told us to do it!
