The area we want to concentrate on through our campaign is by being those who help their brothers and sisters in Islam. Not only do we want to help those that are unfortunate and cannot afford basic food for Iftar time, we want to help our brothers and sisters that are donating towards this cause by sharing knowledge.

They will be tested by the extraordinary powers that Allaah will grant him, such as causing rain to fall, reviving the earth with vegetation and extracting the treasures of the earth. He will be a young man with a ruddy complexion, short of stature, with curly hair. He will be one-eyed; his right eye will be flat and his other eye will have a thick piece of flesh over it. Written between his eyes will be the word ʾʾKaafirʾʾ (disbeliever). Most of those who follow him will be Jews. He will meet his end at the hands of ʾEesa ibn Maryam (Jesus the son of Mary) who will kill him with a spear in Lod, which is in Palestine.

Uthman Lateef has been the Director of the Hittin Institute since March 2008. He has a BA (First Class Hons) in History, an MA (Distinction) in Crusading Studies with a dissertation on religious poetry in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and is currently completing a PhD in the Muslim literary effort to inspire a yearning for Jerusalem in the twelfth century.

He has been involved in many Islamic organisations, international charitable projects where he has been particularly active in raising awareness about the plight of Muslims in poverty-stricken Africa.

The Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace) said, “If people knew the reward in praying Fajr and Isha in congregation, they would go to the mosque even if they had to crawl.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

In a remote tiny village in Saudi Arabia, an old crippled man crawling to the nearby mosque has been the most familiar scene. Some of those who have watched that man have died as he is now nearly 76.

Since he was a little boy, Abdullah Al Asiri has never missed his daily prayers and insists on performing it at the mosque despite his handicap.

Asiri was born handicapped in a family of 10, including his parents, three brothers and four sisters. His brothers, sisters, sisters in law and his many nephews and nieces have been looking after him through his life.

Asiri has crawled to and from the mosque in his southern village of Alaziza five times a day for nearly 65 years, defying the scorching desert summer heat and the pinching cold weather in winter.

His nephew Abdul Aziz said he had shot a film of his uncle to “underscore his perseverance, determination and strength.”
